On a beautiful autumn day in 2009, two hoomans, Nona and Adrian, made a life-changing decision. They decided to visit a local animal shelter in Washington State, USA, in their search for a little soul that would fill their hearts with warmth. Little did they know that their lives were about to change forever.
As they stepped into the main shelter room, their eyes were immediately drawn to a majestic kitten like no other they had ever seen. It was a love at first sight kind of moment. However, their happiness was short-lived as they discovered that another family had already chosen the kitten and taken him to one of the bonding rooms to see if he was a good match for them. They felt a pang of sadness but soldiered on, determined to find another little soul waiting to be adopted.
As they continued exploring the shelter and getting to know all the kittens and cats available for adoption, destiny had a different plan in mind. The majestic fluff that they were certain would be adopted by the other family magically reappeared in his cage, accompanied by a note declaring his availability for adoption. In a heartbeat, Nona and Adrian rushed to the nearest volunteer, their hearts set on bringing this adorable creature home.
The kind volunteer shared the backstory. It seemed that the kitten had been rejected because he was still wild and in need of further training. But Nona and Adrian, undeterred by the challenges, begged for an opportunity to bond with this special little soul. They believed deep in their hearts that he was the one they had been searching for. The volunteer agreed and brought the kitten to one of the bonding rooms. The moment the kitten entered the room, he dashed straight towards Nona and Adrian, purring louder than ever before. Their hearts instantly melted, and they knew that this was meant to be. And thus, TORC found his forever home.
The name TORC holds significance beyond just a mere label. It is derived from the Romanian language, a homage to Nona and Adrian's roots. In Romanian, TORC means "I purr." It encapsulates the cherished bond between TORC and his hoomans, a symbol of the love and warmth that brought them all together.
